Monash has two main campuses in Melbourne, one in the suburb of Clayton and the other in Caulfield. Students can take courses at either campus, and a shuttle bus connects them. The Clayton campus is the largest, main campus and is 50 minutes by train from the Melbourne Central Business District. The Caulfield campus is 15 minutes by train from the Central Business District. The Clayton campus is a traditional selfcontained campus that features a wildlife preserve, cinema, sport facilities, eateries and the main halls of residence. The Caulfield campus is a modern campus that houses the Faculty of Art and Design. Monash University has the energy of a bustling large university with a cosmopolitan flavor.

Campus Activities Campus Activities

The Monash Exchange club (MEX) is a social forum for study abroad students attending Monash, Monash students who have studied abroad, and students interested in global travel. MEX plans social activities throughout the year. Monash has over 180 student clubs covering cultural, academic, religious, political, artistic, and athletic interests.

The Monash Student Association organizes activities throughout the academic year including live music, nights out in Melbourne, scavenger hunts, and lunchtime entertainment.

Specialty Programs Specialty Programs

Monash offers two courses specifically designed for study-abroad students:

  • AUS 1060: Contemporary Australia introduces students to the major cultural, political and environmental issues shaping Australia today. Fieldwork, film screenings and media analysis are employed in order to gain insight into events that have shaped contemporary Australia.
  • EDF 3609: Experiencing the Australian Landscape gives students an understanding of the unique Australian wilderness through a series of field trips. Fieldwork venues include Victoria’s national and state parks, the Grampians National Park, Wilson’s Promontory National Park or the Barmah State Forest.

  • The Monash network of six campuses in Australia, one each in Malaysia and South Africa, and a center in Prato, Italy, brings an international perspective to learning and provide greater opportunities for collaboration in teaching and research.
