Murdoch University is located in the suburb of Murdoch, just 10 miles southwest of Perth’s Central Business District and 5 miles from the eclectic seaside city of Fremantle, where students enjoy numerous cafés, microbreweries, boutiques and weekend markets. Murdoch’s modern campus has a strong community feel, while providing state-of-the-art facilities. The natural bushland setting provides peaceful courtyards that separate the buildings and are beautifully landscaped with native Australian trees and shrubs.
Students can choose from over 60 clubs and societies to get involved on campus. Looking for something unique? Try the Ultimate Disc Club, a club for students interested in having fun and perfecting their ultimate Frisbee skills. The club holds social nights each Monday on campus and encourages all students to get involved.
Murdoch’s Guild of Students is a very active part of campus life and sponsors numerous events throughout the semester such as live music, dance, street theatre, film screenings, short recreational courses, and Triple Crown and other Guild Shows with touring bands. The guild also offers a new and exciting program, Students Without Borders, which has been recognized nationwide and follows the footsteps of Doctors Without Borders and Engineers Without Borders. Students Without Borders is an inclusive student association with no borders. Students are encouraged to visit the office and register their interest in the current and developing programs.
Murdoch University students typically live on-campus in the Student Village conveniently located within a 5-minute walk of the library, labs and lecture theatres. Off-campus housing managed by Study Australia is also available in the coastal city of Fremantle.
Our semester participants have enjoyed exclusive organized trips as an optional way to enhance their study abroad experience. Over 50% of our participants joined Study Australia on a pre-semester trip last semester. Past trip destinations and options include:
