Location / “The Scene”
RMIT University has three campuses in Melbourne. The main campus, City Campus, is located downtown on the north edge of Melbourne’s Central Business District. It is easily accessible by tram and train from any point in greater Melbourne. The sights and sounds of the artistic city of Melbourne spill onto the urban City Campus and reveal the slightly chaotic charm of RMIT, with its blend of colors and styles and traditional and modern architecture. RMIT University is located in a vibrant part of Melbourne.
Students are in a unique academic and social environment surrounded by galleries, restaurants and bars. RMIT is also close to the State Library of Victoria, an eclectic array of restaurants and the Queen Victoria Market.
Campus Activities
Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology (RMIT) has many student organizations – political, artistic, religious, cultural, athletic and academic. The RMIT Underwater Club, for example provides inexpensive PADI scubadiving certification courses, has its own boats and diving equipment, and plans numerous weekend trips.
Whether through the Exchange Club or Sports and Recreation at RMIT, there are a variety of excursions and activities throughout the academic year. Possibilities include surfing trips as well as excursions to Tasmania, Central Australia and Victoria's Great Ocean Road.
RMIT's Education Abroad Office provides a fun and thorough orientation program introducing you to local RMIT students and other exchange/study abroad students to assist with a smooth transition to Victoria and the university.
