The University of Wollongong is located approximately 3 miles northwest of the coastal city of Wollongong in the foothills of Mt. Keira and is accessible by direct bus line from all areas of the city. Wollongong is situated 90 minutes south of the Sydney Central Business District along the coast of New South Wales and has easy access to the city by rail or car.

Join the Green Team, an environmental conservation club on campus that performs bush regeneration, wildlife monitoring and environmental management in the Illawarra region surrounding Wollongong. Explore Kakadu National Park on the Top End of Australia with Project Challenge, an experience that incorporates adventure travel, community service, intercultural exchange and personal growth.

Discovering Down Under
This is a broad yet coherent overview of the physical and human environments of contemporary Australia. How did Uluru and the Great Barrier Reef form? Why is Sydney particularly vulnerable to bushfires? Which is the most multicultural Australian city? Topics include landforms; climate; vegetation; coasts; rivers and deserts; indigenous Australia; population; industry and agriculture; cities, suburbs and rural settlement; and interactions with Australia’s near neighbors. Field study is incorporated into this subject and is offered in the July semester.
