Employment Assistance Program

Study Australia is pleased to offer students assistance in obtaining a work visa and gaining part time employment in Australia. The work visa allows study abroad participants to work up to 20 hours a week while classes are in session. When classes are on break, students may work an unlimited amount of hours.

In Fall 2008, we launched our Employment Assistance Program in which we facilitated a certification course that qualifies students to work in the hospitality industry. Employers from local hotels, restaurants, cafes and catering companies are invited to attend the course to meet the students. While there is no guarantee of employment, 97% of the Fall 2008 students completing the course were offered positions. Due to this initial success, the program has been expanded to include even more employment opportunities and locations.

Not only do the students enjoy the financial rewards of working, it is an excellent opportunity for greater cultural immersion during their program and exposes them to the broader community beyond the university.

"Study Australia organized a one-day workshop where I received my RSA certification, which is required to work in the Australian hospitality industry. The course was easy, relaxed and fun. Afterward, we were set up with job interviews with local vendors.
