South Island Trip

Open to Spring Semester participants, excluding Bond University

Students travel through the South Island of New Zealand and enjoy some of the most magnificent natural surroundings this planet has to offer! From the Southern Hemisphere's largets bungee jump, to mountain biking, jet boating through ravines, hiking glaciers, and optional white water rafting the raging rapids - you won't be disappointed or bored!

  • Grab steel boots and ice picks and explore the breathtaking blue ice during a Glacier Hike
  • View snow-capped mountains and deep blue lakes as you travel past Lake Matheson and through the Southern Alps
  • Explore the canyons and gorges of Shotover River

  • Pack your nerves of steel for the Nevis Bungee Jump, the largest bungee in NZ!

  • Optional Milford Sound and a lengthy cruise spotting seals, dolphins, waterfalls, and towering cliffs

Open to Bond University participants only

Enjoy a 5-day trip packed full of the beauty of New Zealand and all the adrenaline you can handle. We'll visit Maori cultural sites, get our hearts racing while black water rafting, Zorbing, jet boating, and bungee jumping, and explore Auckland, New Zealand's largest and most diverse city.

Highlights

  • Watch the famed Pohutu Geyser at Whakarewarewa Thermal Reserve shoot 30 metres into the sky almost continuously
  • Relax in a thermal pool or try a mud bath at the Polynesian Spa.
  • Watch expert carvers and weavers create cultural artwork at the New Zealand Maori Arts and Crafts Institute.
  • Enjoy a hangi feast and a Maori concert and try your hand at a traditional dance
  • Take a cable car up Mount Ngongotaha for breathtaking views of Lake Rotorua, Rotorua City, and the surrounding dormant and active volcanoes
  • Take a scenic luge ride through redwood forests or go for the more advanced track that will set your heart racing
  • Become a Zorbonaut as we harness you inside a huge plastic ball before sending you rolling, head over heels, 200m down a hill
  • Pull the ripcord and swing towards the earth at 130km/ph, pulling a G-Force factor of 3 on the Giant Swoop
  • Take the plunge on a 43m bungee
  • Not quite up to sky diving, try the Free Fall Simulator
  • Test your nerves white water rafting in the morning and black water rafting in caves in the afternoon
  • Visit cosmopolitan Auckland, New Zealand's largest city, with its unique mix of Polynesian, Asian and Kiwi culture
  • Explore Auckland Harbor by night on a scenic dinner cruise
