5-Day New Zealand Orientation Trip

Highlights

In past program surveys, participants have continuously commented that the orientation program was vital in helping them feel relaxed, prepared, and excited for their upcoming semester abroad. Currently the Study New Zealand orientation program is headquartered in the cities of Rotorua and Auckland, allowing students to see the beauty of New Zealand's countryside and the country's largest and most cosmopolitan city. Auckland Highlights Tour

Enjoy a walking tour through the city, strolling through the Auckland Domain and its beautiful gardens. From the breathtaking vista of Sky Tower to its trendy waterfront and pier, the "City of Sails" will capture your imagination.

Rotorua

Take a trip to the most popular tourist destination on the North Island, where you'll experience New Zealand's volcanic activity and shooting geysers, and take a dip in its thermal mud pools. Thrilling adventurers such as zorbing, jet-boating and bungee-jumping abound, and dining on a traditional Maori hangi completes the day.

Waitomo Caves

Explore the world-renowned Waitomo Glowworm Caves, a New Zealand must-see. Thousands of tiny glowworms radiate their unmistakable luminescent light as you explore the majestic and ornate cave decorations, the deep limestone shaft known as the Tomo and the equally magnificent Cathedral Cavern. Heighten the adventure by abseiling down into the cave or go black-water rafting on inner tubes into the depths.

Optional Activities

Spend a day relaxing and taking in the sights and sounds of downtown Auckland. Explore the many shops and galleries of the Otara Market, abseil off Sky Tower or bungee from the Auckland Harbour Bridge, home of the original bungee jump. Take in the summit views and lava flows and caves of Rangitoto, the volcanic island off the coast of Auckland.
