The Study Australia Internship Program allows for academic credit. The majority of students obtain credit directly from their home university, the student then pays any necessary tuition fees to the home university.
Sometimes, obtaining credit from a home university proves difficult or even impossible. If this is the case, Study Australia can assist with making credit arrangements either with an Australian university or another U.S. institution. The student is then responsible for paying any necessary tuition fees to the U.S./Australian institution and for completing any necessary requirements for the internship (e.g. submitting journals, reports, meeting with supervisor, etc.) in order to obtain credit.
The academic credit is not issued solely for completion of a placement, but rather it requires the completion of certain academic related projects or coursework determined by the participant’s Australian or U.S. supervisor. The academic component may include a combination of written work consisting of a daily journal, exit report and research papers as well as internship placement attendance and requirements. Students who have completed this coursework have found it very reasonable and easy to fit into their busy work schedules.
Academic credit will appear on an official transcript from an Australian or U.S. institution. The transfer of credit from the U.S./Australian institution to the student’s home university is between the student and their home university. Students will receive an evaluation report from the Australian host organization at the completion of their internship abroad program.
