The University of Auckland is located in New Zealand’s largest city and commercial center, Auckland. The city is an eclectic mix of New Zealand, Asian and South Pacific cultures.

The University of Auckland’s main campus is bordered by two city parks and is adjacent to the bustling city center, which provides convenient access to shops, entertainment venues and museums. The city’s pace and energy spill onto Auckland’s campus, where historically significant buildings and landmarks meet modern architecture and state-of-the-art research facilities.

Campus Activities Campus Activities

The University of Auckland offers more than 100 student organizations on campus, including academic, athletic, cultural, religious, political and artistic clubs. One of the more notable clubs is the Auckland Tramping Club, which explores the natural wonders of New Zealand and teaches bush-craft, snow-craft and leadership skills. It offers a variety of trips from easy day walks to week-long journeys, instructional courses and social events.

Students live in off-campus accommodation within walking distance of campus. Most units are small apartments shared with other US and international students.

Academics Academics

  • The University of Auckland offers courses in Liberal Arts, Business, Creative Arts, Education, Engineering, Law, Health Sciences, Science and Theology.
  • The Faculty of Arts is home to some of New Zealand's leading intellectuals. Its arts and humanities program is ranked internationally among the top three in Australasia. Covering approximately 50 subject areas in the arts, humanities and social sciences, the Faculty of the Arts is the largest and most comprehensive arts faculty in New Zealand. New Zealand and the Pacific are the focus for much teaching and research across the faculty.
  • The Faculty of Business and Economics holds leading international accreditations including the "triple crown": AACSB International (United States), EQUIS (Europe) and AMBA (United Kingdom). 
  • The Faculty of Science is the largest of its kind in New Zealand. Whether students choose to study more traditional sciences such as physics, mathematics or geology, or specialize in a modern discipline such as computer science, medicinal chemisty or bioinfrmatics, the Faculty of Science will provide them with the necessary skills they need to excel.
